Douglas Burgdorff is a photographer, cinematographer, writer, and director.
He spent his childhood back and forth between New Jersey, Connecticut, Maine, and New Hampshire. His love of film was cemented at a young age when movies were forbidden by his mother (who, for example, broke up with one of her boyfriends because he liked the movie Blue Velvet).
He spent most of his time at friends’ houses watching movies, and studying and making films became everything to him. He often watched six a day at his father’s house and tore through any movie or art book he could find. He attended four film schools: Governor’s School of New Jersey, New York Film Academy, Full Sail University, and Emerson College. He has directed and filmed countless projects on every format available.
He continues to create films and photography, with his work appearing in festivals, screenings, features, and magazines. His film work has taken him all over the USA and world, including Rwanda, Mexico, Morocco, Australia, Montreal, and Sri Lanka.
He currently lives in Los Angeles.
“If there was ever a good reason for Vimeo to install a ‘love that filmmaker and everything they’ll ever do’ button, Doug Burgdorff is it. Often not safe for work and perplexing, his prolific film output is also beautifully crafted and highly addictive.”
